"synesthesia means “joined sensation” (Greek syn = together + aisthesis = perception), wherein two or more senses are coupled such that a voice, for example, is not only heard, but also felt, seen, or tasted." Richard E. Cytowic, the Synesthesia Encyclopedia (2004)
Originally from Seattle Washington, USA, Timothy B Layden has been an artist, student, designer, teacher and activist living in The USA, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Spain and The UK. In 2000 he arrived in Spain where he began his doctorate in fine art at the University of Barcelona focusing his research on interdisciplinary arts and synesthesia.
Tim's work explores how the invisible world of sound can manifest itself visually through an overlapping of the senses.
